Bank of American is suspending access to online bitcoin ATM service in California, the company said on Monday.
The bank said it has removed access to its Bitcoin ATM in Orange County, California.
The company said it will be contacting customers affected by the policy.
The ATM’s website said it was providing a service to consumers to process and store bitcoin.
The move comes as other major banks and financial services firms have started to experiment with the digital currency, including Amazon, which said last week it will begin accepting bitcoin.
On Monday, JPMorgan Chase said it is considering using bitcoin as payment for services in its US and global financials.
A bitcoin ATM is seen at the bank’s branch in New York City, February 12, 2020.
